Romans 1:18a: The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people
Wow. Wrath. Revealed. Against. Strong words. God’s wrath is beign revealed from heaven against all the people’s evil.
God’s wrath is because of the people’s evil.
God is holy. He is without sin. He is holy, powerful, infinite, and wise.
And we… well, we are sinful. We are enemies of the Holy God.
God can’t be with sin.
Holiness cannot dwell with evil.
God’s blamelessness cannot be with our sinfulness.
End of the story. No hope. No rescue. No life. Just death and sin, and more death: death, and sin.
Or so it seems…
But then Jesus Christ, God’s son, the hero, the rescuer, came into the picture.
And now we are sons of God, we are his children. We can be with God, we can live with God enternally, because Christ took our place.
We are loved by a holy God.
