June 29’s Quote

I want to try to start posting (mostly) great quotes daily as I come across them, from fiction books, non-fiction books, the Bible, quotation books, myself (uh-oh!), etc.

Here’s the first one:

An awesome quote on the role of government from America’s third president.  Really makes you think about today’s increasingly controlling government.  I first saw it on survivalblog.com

“[A] wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government.”

– Thomas Jefferson, First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1801
